Jewelie holds a Master of Arts in Art Therapy from Drexel University’s School of Nursing and Healthcare Professions and is a Board Certified Art Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor.
Jewelie has a range of experience working with individuals of all ages. At the Colorado Women’s Center, Jewelie uses an eclectic, person-centered approach that prioritizes authenticity, collaboration and the therapeutic relationship, vital to the process of psychotherapy. Her work with clients is strength based and rooted in the psychodynamic tradition. She also incorporates elements of mindfulness, ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy), self compassion practices and motivational interviewing. Additionally, Jewelie has found the use of art therapy interventions to be instrumental in moving towards connection, empowerment and healing. She is LGBTQIA affirming and intersectional.
Jewelie would like to join you in exploring patterns that may no longer be serving you, while highlighting the parts of self that are adaptive. She wants to support women in finding insights, connection and inner strength. It is her belief that individuals have the ability to make meaningful change that can lead to growth and healing.
Jewelie deeply values the role of art therapy in the work that she does with clients. Art therapy can help individuals express and organize difficult emotions as well as increase self-awareness. There is no need for experience in art making to participate in this therapeutic modality. Art Therapy may be a good choice for you if you are looking to approach therapy from a creative perspective. It can also be helpful for individuals who have difficulty verbalizing thoughts and feelings.
Jewelie strives to meet every individual with curiosity and warmth. She understands the complexity of daily life and is devoted to helping women. Jewelie is a mother of two young children. She is originally from the east coast but was drawn to Colorado by the expansive sky and mountains. You can find her out on the trails running or on nature adventures with her family.
