For Relationship Patterns That Repeat
Attachment Therapy
You want closeness, and then something in you pulls back the moment you get it. Or you cannot stop checking whether the people you love are about to leave. These patterns usually started long before the relationship you are in now.

Why This Matters
Where These Patterns Actually Started.
Attachment is the bond you formed with your earliest caregivers, and it shapes how you handle closeness, conflict, and distance for the rest of your life. When that early bond was inconsistent, absent, or unsafe, the patterns it built tend to show up in every relationship since, including the one you are in now.
Attachment therapy at Colorado Women's Center looks at where these patterns actually started, and how they are running your relationships right now. You do not need a diagnosis to start. Noticing the pattern is usually enough to justify a first conversation.

Our Promise to You
We Guarantee Our Therapist Matching
These patterns can make trusting a new person, including a new therapist, feel like its own risk. If your first therapist isn’t the right fit, we’ll match you with another at no additional cost. You will not have to start over and rebuild that trust from nothing.

Attachment Patterns Show Up in More Than One Way.
Most women recognize themselves in a few of these at once, not just one.
Attachment Anxiety
You need constant reassurance that the people you love are not about to leave.
Attachment Avoidance
Getting close makes you uncomfortable, so you keep some distance even from people you care about.
Relationship Instability
Relationships end the same way, over and over, and you are not entirely sure why.
Dependency
You use closeness to manage your own anxiety, which can tip into patterns that look more like codependency than connection.
Fear of Intimacy
Getting close feels dangerous, so part of you avoids it before it can go wrong.
Emotional Distress
The anxiety, sadness, or anger connected to your relationships feels bigger than the situation seems to call for.
Inconsistent Behavior
You pull people close, then push them away, sometimes in the same week.
Low Self-Esteem
Somewhere in this, you started doubting whether you are actually worth staying for.
Our Approach
Starting Attachment Therapy.
The pattern took years to build. Understanding it does not have to take that long.
The Match Call Comes First
You talk with a Wellness Coordinator about what you’re noticing in your relationships. She matches you with a therapist who works with attachment patterns specifically.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
Your therapist may draw on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an approach built specifically around attachment and how it shapes adult relationships.
Tracing the Pattern Back
You look at where this pattern actually started, usually earlier than the relationship you are in now, so you are working with the root of it, not just the latest version.

Common Questions
Questions About Attachment Therapy.
Do I need a diagnosis to start this kind of therapy?
No. You do not need a formal diagnosis, just a sense that a pattern keeps repeating and you want to understand it.
Can this help even if I am not in a relationship right now?
Yes. Much of this work is about understanding the pattern itself, which you can do whether or not you are currently dating or partnered.
How is this different from couples therapy?
This work is about your own patterns, on their own, separate from any one relationship. If you are looking for support inside an existing relationship together with a partner, that is a different kind of session, and your therapist can help you figure out which fits.
Is what I share confidential?
Yes. What you tell your therapist at Colorado Women's Center is confidential and protected under HIPAA. It is not shared with anyone else without your written consent, apart from the narrow situations the law requires, such as an immediate safety concern.
How soon can I start?
Usually within about a week. Match Calls are usually available within 48 hours and often within 24. Call 720.810.2355 or use the form on this page to set one up.
Can I do sessions online?
Yes. Online sessions are available anywhere in Colorado. Sessions are available seven days a week, 8am to 8pm, in person or online.
