Why This Space Matters

Family Patterns Feel Permanent. They Rarely Are.

Your family has developed patterns. Who goes quiet. Who escalates. Who gets stuck mediating. Those patterns feel permanent from the inside. They rarely are.

Family therapy at Colorado Women's Center is built around your specific family. Not a script for families in general. You and everyone in the room get heard, and the work is aimed at your actual pattern, not just the most recent fight.

We Guarantee Our Therapist Matching

Getting your whole family to agree on a therapist is hard enough. You shouldn't also have to get the match wrong. If your first therapist isn't the right fit, we'll match you with another at no additional cost. That's the whole guarantee.

What Brings Families to Therapy

The Situations We See Most Often.

Your family's specifics are different from anyone else's. Still, most of what brings a family in falls into a few recognizable situations. See if one of these sounds like yours.

Parent-Teen Conflict

Conversations with your teen that turn into fights before either of you means them to, or one who's stopped talking to you entirely.

Blended Family Adjustment

A new marriage. New siblings. New rules. A household of yours that doesn't feel settled yet.

Separation and Divorce

Co-parenting with your ex. Two households. Kids caught in the middle of decisions they didn't make.

Grief as a Family

A loss everyone in your house is carrying differently, at their own different speed.

A Loved One's Mental Health or Substance Use

One person's struggle that's reshaped how your whole family functions around it.

Sibling Conflict

Rivalry between your kids. Distance that's settled into how the family operates.

Major Life Transitions

A move. A job loss. A new baby. Anything that's shifted the ground under everyone at once.

Extended Family and In-Law Tension

Boundaries with grandparents or in-laws, tested again on your own family, or never set in the first place.

A Closer Look

Blended Families Carry Their Own Kind of Complexity.

If yours is a blended family, you're carrying a specific kind of complexity. General family advice doesn't quite address it. A step-parent's authority isn't automatic. Your child can love a step-parent and still feel disloyal for it, and two households can raise the same kid with two different sets of rules at once.

Your therapist works with the actual mechanics of it. How a step-parent earns authority without forcing it. How siblings and step-siblings settle into one household without one side feeling like the guest. And how you and your co-parent can hold it together across two homes, even when you don't always agree.

Bonding rarely happens on the same timeline for everyone in your family. One child warms up in a season, another takes years, and that gap is common, not a sign you're failing. Your therapist works with where each relationship actually is, not where it's supposed to be by now.

Our Approach

How It Works Here.

Getting started doesn't require your whole family to have this figured out first. No plan required. Here's what the first few steps actually look like.

01

The Match Call Comes First.

Before you're paired with anyone, a Wellness Coordinator listens to what's going on and who's involved, then matches your family with a therapist based on that conversation. That's the whole call.

02

Working With the Underlying Pattern.

You're matched with one consistent therapist, who often draws on family systems therapy to work with what's actually driving the pattern underneath it. One therapist. One family.

03

Matched to What's Actually Driving It.

Your therapist may also build in cognitive behavioral therapy or emotionally focused therapy. Whichever fits what's actually driving the conflict, thoughts, or disconnected feelings underneath it.

04

In Any of Five Offices, or Online.

Boulder, Denver, Broomfield, Fort Collins, and Longmont each have an office, and every one of them offers online sessions too. Where you start doesn't have to depend on where you live.

Common Questions

What You're Probably Wondering.

How is this different from generic family advice?

No. Your Wellness Coordinator listens to what's actually going on in your own specific family and matches you with a therapist based on that conversation, not a generic family-therapy checklist. The approach is built around your situation, not a template.

Does everyone in the family need to attend every session?

No. Family therapy can start with whoever's ready, even one person on their own. Your therapist can work with the family as a whole once others are willing, or continue working with you individually if that's where things stay for now.

In a blended family, is it normal if one child bonds faster than another?

Yes. Uneven bonding is common in blended families and not a sign that something in the family is wrong. Your therapist works with each relationship at its own actual pace, instead of pushing everyone toward the same expected timeline right away.

What if my teen doesn't want to come to therapy?

Yes. Teens are often more willing to come in once they understand the room isn't set up to gang up on them. Your therapist works to make sure every person in the family, including a reluctant teen, actually gets heard here.

How soon can we actually get in?

Match Calls are usually available within 48 hours and often within 24. Most new families are scheduled with a therapist within about a week, depending on everyone's own availability, and sessions run seven days a week from 8am to 8pm.

Can we do this from home, or does it have to be an office?

Either. Colorado Women's Center offers in-person sessions at five Front Range offices and online sessions anywhere in Colorado. You can start online and move to an office later, or the other way around, depending on what works for your family.

What actually happens on the Match Call?

A Wellness Coordinator listens to what's going on and who's involved. You control how much detail you share. Based on that conversation, she matches your family with a therapist, and there's no assessment to complete before you talk to someone.
