Support for Parents

Parenting Therapy

Your child pushes back on everything lately, or you and your partner cannot agree on how to handle it. Parenting therapy is where you sort out what is actually going on, and what to do about it.

Why This Matters

Parenting Stress Rarely Stays Contained to Parenting.

Some days it is the tantrums or the backtalk. Other days it is the disagreement with your partner about how to handle any of it, or the guilt that follows almost every decision you make. None of that means you are doing this wrong.

Parenting therapy at Colorado Women’s Center looks at what is actually driving the friction. Your child’s behavior, the dynamic between you and your partner, and sometimes your own attachment patterns from long before you had kids. All of it can be part of the picture.

Our Promise to You

We Guarantee Our Therapist Matching

Parenting advice is everywhere, and most of it does not fit your actual kid or your actual family. If your first therapist isn’t the right fit, we’ll match you with another at no additional cost. You will not have to start over and re-explain your whole situation.

What It Can Look Like

Parenting Challenges Show Up in More Than One Place.

Most parents are dealing with a few of these at once, not just one.

Behavioral Issues

Tantrums, defiance, or aggression that leave you unsure what to do in the moment.

Communication Problems

You and your child, or you and your partner, keep talking past each other about the same things.

Parenting Styles

You and your partner do not agree on discipline, screen time, or how strict is too strict.

Emotional and Mental Health

Your own stress or anxiety is showing up in how you parent, and you have noticed it.

Balancing Responsibilities

Work, your own life, and parenting all want the same hours.

Developmental Concerns

You are not sure if what you are seeing is a phase or something worth a closer look.

Discipline Strategies

What used to work has stopped working, and you are not sure what to try next.

Family Dynamics

Sibling conflict, blended-family adjustments, or a tension that runs through the whole house.

Our Approach

Starting Parenting Therapy.

There is no generic fix, because there is no generic kid or generic family.

01

The Match Call Comes First

You talk with a Wellness Coordinator about what’s going on at home. She matches you with a therapist who works with parents.

02

Family Systems Therapy

Your therapist may draw on family systems therapy, which looks at the patterns running through the whole family, not just your child’s behavior in isolation.

03

Building What Actually Works for Your Family

Generic parenting advice assumes a generic kid. Your therapist helps you build an approach that fits your child, your family, and what you are actually working with.

04

In One of Our Offices, or Online

Sessions are available at our Boulder, Denver, Fort Collins, Broomfield, or Longmont offices, or online anywhere in Colorado, seven days a week.

Common Questions

Questions About Parenting Therapy.

Does this work if my kids are teenagers, not little kids?

Yes, though the approach looks different. Teen-specific support is also available if the challenges are mostly about your teenager on their own, separate from the family system around them.

Do I need my partner or my child to come to sessions too?

Not necessarily. Many parents start on their own to get support and a plan, and bring in a partner or arrange family sessions later if that would help.

Is this about fixing my parenting, or does it help with my own stress too?

Both, usually. What shows up in your parenting is often connected to your own stress, exhaustion, or unresolved patterns, and the work covers all of it.

Is what we talk about confidential?

Yes. What you share with your therapist at Colorado Women's Center is confidential and protected under HIPAA. It is not shared with your partner, your child's other parent, or anyone else without your written consent, apart from the narrow situations the law requires, such as an immediate safety concern.

How soon can I start?

Usually within about a week. Match Calls are usually available within 48 hours and often within 24. Call 720.810.2355 or use the form on this page to set one up.

Can I do sessions online?

Yes. Online sessions are available anywhere in Colorado, which can help on the weeks when getting to an office is one more thing to manage. Sessions are available seven days a week, 8am to 8pm.
