Why This Space Matters
Fort Collins Has a Real LGBTQ+ Community. Your Therapist Should Know It.
Fort Collins has a real LGBTQ+ community, from students across the street at CSU to people who have lived here for decades. You may have already sat across from a therapist who meant well and needed everything explained. You spent the sessions teaching. That gets old fast.
LGBTQ+ therapy in Fort Collins at Colorado Women’s Center starts differently. A Wellness Coordinator matches you with a therapist who specializes in LGBTQ+ concerns. Coming out. Family. Identity. Or something that has nothing to do with any of it. You start with what’s actually going on.

Our Promise to You
We Guarantee Our Therapist Matching
Maybe a past therapist used all the right words and still missed the point. You shouldn’t have to risk that twice. If your first therapist isn’t the right fit, we’ll match you with another at no additional cost. No starting from scratch.

Some of This Has Been With You for Years.
Some of it started last month. Some of it you haven’t said out loud yet. None of it has to reach a crisis before it’s worth bringing in.
Identity Confusion
You’re not sure which label fits, or whether you want one at all. It can shift from one month to the next. That’s allowed to take time.
Internalized Stigma
Old messages from growing up still show up in your head. You know they’re wrong. They still land.
Social Isolation
You pull back from friends before they can get it wrong. It feels safer. It also gets lonely.
Anxiety Over Acceptance
You wonder who you’d lose if you said everything out loud. So you edit yourself. At work, at family dinners, sometimes with friends.
Relationship Strain
Someone close to you isn’t supportive, and it shows up everywhere. The arguments. The silences. The holidays you dread.
Fear of Rejection
Every new person means deciding again how much to share. Just deciding wears you out. So sometimes you skip meeting people at all.
Low Self-Esteem
Without much affirmation around you, the critical voice gets louder. You start believing some of it.
Stress-Related Health Issues
Your body is carrying this too. Headaches. A tight stomach. A tiredness that sleep doesn’t fix.
Our Approach
Starting LGBTQ+ Therapy in Fort Collins.
You don’t have to know exactly what you want to work on. You don’t have to lead with your identity either. You start with whatever feels most pressing.
The Match Call Comes First
A Wellness Coordinator asks what you’re looking for in a therapist. That can include LGBTQ+ experience or anything else that matters to you. Then you’re matched with a therapist at our Fort Collins office.
Your Pace, Your Agenda
The work here takes a client-centered therapy approach. Your therapist follows your account of what’s going on. They don’t decide in advance what the problem is.
Planning the Hard Conversations
Maybe you’re weighing a talk with family or someone at work. You can plan it with your therapist first. What to say. What you’ll do if it goes badly. How you’ll take care of yourself after.
In Our Fort Collins Office or Online
Our office is on College Ave. at Pitkin St., facing CSU and close to Old Town. Look for our sign on the white building. Sessions are available seven days a week, 8am to 8pm, and online anywhere in Colorado.

Common Questions
What People Ask Before Their First Session.
Are your Fort Collins therapists LGBTQ+ affirming?
Yes. On the Match Call, a Wellness Coordinator matches you with a therapist at Colorado Women’s Center in Fort Collins who specializes in LGBTQ+ concerns. The point is that your sessions go to what you came in for, not to explaining who you are. If your first therapist isn’t the right fit, we’ll match you with another at no additional cost.
Do I have to talk about being LGBTQ+?
No. You might come in for anxiety, a breakup, burnout, or grief, with being LGBTQ+ simply part of your life. Your therapist should understand that context without making it the whole focus. You decide what your sessions are about, and that can change as the work goes on.
Can my partner be part of this?
Yes, if you want that. Some people start in individual therapy and bring a partner in later. When the relationship itself is the focus, Colorado Women’s Center also offers LGBTQ+ couples therapy in Fort Collins. Your therapist can help you sort out which fits, or whether both do.
Can therapy help me come out to my family?
Yes. Your therapist can help you think through who to tell, when, and how. You can practice what you want to say and plan for the reactions you’re worried about. There’s no deadline to meet, and deciding not to come out to someone is a choice you get to make too.
Is this confidential?
Yes. Your sessions at Colorado Women’s Center are protected under HIPAA, and that covers your orientation and gender identity like everything else you talk about. Nothing you share leaves the room without your written consent, apart from narrow legal exceptions such as an immediate safety concern.
How quickly can I get in?
Most people are seen within about a week. Match Calls are usually available within 48 hours and often within 24, and most clients are scheduled with a therapist within about a week, depending on their own availability. Call 720.810.2355 or use the form on this page to get started.
Can I do sessions online instead?
Yes. Online sessions are available anywhere in Colorado. That can help if you’d rather not be seen walking into a therapist’s office yet, or if you live outside Fort Collins. When you want to come in, our office is on College Ave. Sessions are available seven days a week, 8am to 8pm.
