Why This Space Matters
Denver’s LGBTQ+ Community Is Big. Finding the Right Therapist Can Still Take Work.
Pride fills Civic Center Park every June, and Capitol Hill has been a home base for decades. So you might expect LGBTQ+ therapy in Denver to be easy to find. Then you sit down with a therapist who means well and still needs your life translated. You end up teaching. You pay for the hour anyway.
At Colorado Women’s Center, it starts with a match. A Wellness Coordinator pairs you with a therapist who specializes in LGBTQ+ concerns, so the first session goes to what brought you in. That might be identity. It might be a breakup, a job, or a parent. You set the agenda.

Our Promise to You
We Guarantee Our Therapist Matching
Starting over with a new therapist is tiring. Retelling the hard parts is worse. If your first therapist at our Denver office isn’t the right fit, we’ll match you with another at no additional cost. One awkward fit shouldn’t end the search.

A Busy City Can Still Feel Lonely.
You can live a few blocks from Cheesman Park and still feel like nobody really knows you. Some of this may sound familiar. Any of it is enough reason to start.
Identity Confusion
You’ve tried a label on and it didn’t quite fit. Or it fit for a while and then didn’t. You can work that out at your own speed.
Internalized Stigma
You know the messages you grew up with were wrong. Some days your gut hasn’t caught up. The shame shows up anyway.
Social Isolation
There are plenty of people around. Plenty of events. You still go home feeling like you were performing all night.
Anxiety Over Acceptance
A new job. A new neighbor. Each one starts the same quiet calculation about what to say and when.
Relationship Strain
A sibling or a parent says they’re fine with it. Their actions say something else. You end up reading every conversation twice.
Fear of Rejection
You’ve been hurt by someone you trusted. Now you hold back first, just in case.
Low Self-Esteem
You can list what you like about other people without trying. Your own list comes up short.
Stress-Related Health Issues
You’re sleeping badly. Your shoulders live up by your ears. Your doctor says it’s stress, and you already knew that.
Our Approach
Starting LGBTQ+ Therapy in Denver.
You don’t need a clear goal before the first session. Bring whatever is loudest this week. Your therapist can help you sort the rest.
The Match Call Comes First
You tell a Wellness Coordinator what you want in a therapist. LGBTQ+ experience, evening times, anything that matters to you. Then she matches you with a therapist at our Denver office or online.
Your Story, In Your Words
Your therapist takes a client-centered therapy approach. You describe what’s going on in your own terms. They listen first and build the work from there.
Work, Family, and Everything Between
Maybe you’re out at work but not at home. Or the other way around. Your therapist can help you handle both without feeling split in two.
In Our Denver Office or Online
We’re on Platte St. in LoHi, between Union Station and the Lower Highlands. Sessions run seven days a week, 8am to 8pm. You can also meet online from anywhere in Colorado.

Common Questions
Questions Before Your First Denver Session.
Are your Denver therapists LGBTQ+ affirming?
Yes. Colorado Women’s Center in Denver matches you with a therapist who specializes in LGBTQ+ concerns. A Wellness Coordinator makes that match on the Match Call, based on what you tell her you’re looking for. If your first therapist isn’t the right fit, we’ll match you with another at no additional cost.
What if my last therapist didn’t get it?
Then you already know what to ask for. Tell the Wellness Coordinator what went wrong last time, and she can use it to find a better match. If the first therapist here still isn’t right, the matching guarantee means you can switch at no additional cost. You don’t have to settle twice.
Can my partner be part of this?
Yes. You can start on your own and invite a partner into a session later if that would help. If the relationship becomes the main focus, Colorado Women’s Center also offers LGBTQ+ couples therapy in Denver. Your therapist can help you decide whether individual work, couples work, or both makes sense.
Can therapy help with discrimination at work?
Yes. Bias at work wears you down, whether it’s open hostility or a steady stream of small comments. Your therapist can help you sort out what happened, decide what you want to do about it, and protect your energy in the meantime. Any choice about reporting it, or leaving, stays yours.
Is what I share kept private?
Yes. Sessions at Colorado Women’s Center are confidential and protected under HIPAA. Your orientation, your gender identity, and anything else you talk about stay between you and your therapist. Information is shared only with your written consent, apart from narrow legal exceptions such as an immediate safety concern.
How soon can I start?
Usually within about a week. Match Calls are usually available within 48 hours and often within 24, and most new clients are scheduled with a therapist within about a week, depending on their own availability. Call 720.810.2355 or fill out the form on this page to get started.
Is online therapy an option if I live outside Denver?
Yes. Online sessions are available anywhere in Colorado, seven days a week, 8am to 8pm. If you live in Aurora, Lakewood, or up in the mountains, you can start online and come to the Platte St. office when it suits you. You can also stay online the whole time.
