LGBTQ+ Couples & Relationship Therapy in Longmont

1225 Ken Pratt Blvd. Suite 206 Longmont, CO 80504

Finding a therapist who genuinely understands LGBTQ+ relationships takes time. We made it easier.

You've probably done some searching already. Maybe you found therapists who said they were affirming but didn't feel like a real fit. Maybe you weren't sure who to trust. That experience is more common than it should be, and it's part of why we built what we built in Longmont.

At Colorado Women's Center, you'll be matched with a therapist who has real experience working with LGBTQ+ couples. Someone who already understands the dynamics, the history, and the particular weight of what you're carrying. Your first session is about your relationship, not background orientation.

Our Promise to You

We Guarantee Our Therapist Matching.

Getting matched with the wrong therapist is discouraging, especially when you worked up the courage to reach out. We take the matching process seriously because of that. If your therapist isn't the right fit, we'll connect you with someone who is at no additional cost. You won't have to start your search over or repeat yourself.

Why This Space Matters

Good LGBTQ+ couples therapy is harder to find in Longmont. We're here to change that.

Longmont has good therapists. But LGBTQ+ couples therapy requires more than a general willingness to help. It requires a therapist who already understands what queer relationships look like from the inside, including the dynamics that don't show up in standard training.

A lot of couples in Longmont have driven to Boulder or Denver for that kind of care, or gone without it entirely. We opened our Longmont office because that shouldn't be the case. You deserve access to genuinely experienced LGBTQ+ affirming therapy close to home.

When you come to Colorado Women's Center, you'll work with a therapist who already knows this terrain. Your sessions start on what's happening in your relationship, not on explaining what kind of relationship you're in.

What Brings Couples to Therapy

If something in your relationship feels stuck, you're in the right place.

Most couples come to therapy when something has been building quietly for a while, something they can't quite resolve on their own. These are some of the things we hear most often from LGBTQ+ couples who come to our Longmont office.

Communication & Conflict

The same argument keeps cycling without resolution, or there are conversations you've both learned to avoid. Your therapist can help you understand what's actually happening and give you a way to talk about it that works.

Identity & Transition

When one or both of you is working through a shift in identity, the relationship carries that weight too. Therapy gives both of you somewhere to process it together, at your own pace.

Family & Outside Pressure

Family that isn't fully accepting adds a layer of stress that tends to show up between you, even when you don't mean it to. Therapy helps you work through what that's doing to each of you individually and to your relationship.

Intimacy & Connection

Something between you has grown quieter. Emotional distance, mismatched needs, physical disconnection. These are some of the most common things couples bring to therapy, and they tend to respond well to it.

Shame & Self-Protection

Old pain has a way of showing up in relationships as guardedness, withdrawal, or a fear of being fully known. Your therapist can help you both see those patterns for what they are and work through them together.

Big Life Transitions

Marriage, adoption, a move, becoming parents. These moments bring things to the surface that weren't visible before. Working through them in therapy, before they harden into ongoing conflict, makes a real difference.

Relationship Structure & Agreements

Whether you're in an open relationship, exploring non-monogamy, or building something that doesn't follow a standard template, you'll be met here with curiosity and without judgment.

Grief & Loss

Grief rarely looks the same for two people, and that difference can create distance when you most want to feel close. We can help you stay connected to each other through loss, even when you're each moving through it differently.

Pre-Commitment Counseling

Things are good and you want to keep them that way. Pre-commitment therapy gives you time to understand each other more fully, work through anything that's been lingering, and step into the next chapter with a clearer picture of what you're building.

Our Approach

What to expect when you reach out to us.

We've tried to make getting started as easy as possible. A lot of couples tell us that the first call was easier than they expected. Here's what the process looks like from the beginning.

01

Your First Call Is Free

You'll speak with one of our Wellness Coordinators before you're matched with anyone. They'll take time to understand what's going on, what both of you are hoping for, and what's most important in a therapist. The match is based on your actual situation, not just availability.

02

A Therapist Who Knows Your Story

You'll work with one therapist who gets to know you as a couple over time. Sessions draw on evidence-based approaches like Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method, shaped around what you're actually dealing with. Most couples notice something shift within the first few sessions.

03

Individual Support, When It Fits

Some of the most useful work a couple can do starts with individual therapy. If that's where you are, we can support both at the same time, or help you begin individually and move into couples sessions when you're ready.

04

In-Person in Longmont or Online

Sessions are available at our Longmont office at 1225 Ken Pratt Blvd., Suite 206, or via telehealth anywhere in Colorado. Many couples mix both depending on what works that week.

Common Questions

Things couples often want to know before reaching out.

How do I know the therapist will actually understand our relationship?

During your Match Call, our Wellness Coordinator will ask about your relationship, what's been going on, and what matters most to you in a therapist. They'll connect you with someone who has genuine experience working with LGBTQ+ couples. You won't have to spend your first session explaining who you are.

We're in very different places right now. Can therapy still help?

Yes, and it's one of the things LGBTQ+ couples bring to therapy more than most people realize. Your therapist can work with both of you at the same time, hold each of your experiences with care, and help you build more understanding between you without pushing either of you somewhere you're not ready to go.

My partner isn't ready for this. Is it worth coming on my own?

Individual LGBTQ+ therapy is genuinely useful on its own. It's also a common way for couples to begin, with one partner starting and the other joining later. You don't have to wait for your partner to be ready before you take a step.

Is everything we talk about kept private?

Yes. Everything in your sessions is confidential and fully HIPAA compliant. Nothing is shared with anyone outside the practice without your written consent. Your privacy is protected without exception.

How long does it take to get an appointment?

Most new clients are seen within a week of first contact. Your Match Call is free. Call us at 720.810.2355 or fill out the form on this page and someone will get back to you quickly.

Do you have telehealth available?

Yes. Online therapy is available for couples anywhere in Colorado. Both partners can join from the same location or from separate ones. Many couples use a mix of in-person and telehealth sessions based on what works that week.

What does therapy cost?

Visit our fees and insurance page for current rates. We are unable to accept Medicaid or Medicare. Most clients use out-of-network benefits or pay privately. Your Wellness Coordinator can walk you through your options during your Match Call.
