Be Who You Are

Do you feel different? Do you feel like at times, you don’t belong? Are you having a hard time discovering your own self-worth and beauty? You would be surprised how many women feel this way. A recent study showed that 96 percent of the women surveyed said that they wouldn’t use the word “beautiful” to describe themselves. And, 78% of these women said that they don’t feel completely confident. Research also shows that men view their abilities more positively than women do and that men face fewer societal penalties for self-promotion than women. Why is it wrong for women to know their own self-worth? Why are we shunned for shouting out loud that we are awesome?! If you struggle with confidence, you’re not alone. If you feel different, you are not alone. At Colorado Women’s Center, we LOVE people who are unique and different. We love weird, and we think it’s weird for someone NOT to be weird. We all have parts about us that don’t fall into the “normal” category and thank goodness for that. Life would be so boring if we were all the same. We want you to be able to accept every part of yourself and know that you have value in the world, no matter how different you feel. Be PROUD of your differences–Our uniqueness is beautiful. Love yourself. Tell yourself that you are beautiful. See the beauty in the women around you and tell them that you see their beauty. A confident woman is a good thing! Let’s help one another RISE!
