Rewriting Your Inner Narrative – A Path to Self-Esteem

Insights from Our Founder - Kendra Miguez

Are you struggling with low self-esteem? Do your thoughts about yourself often hinder how you want to exist in the world? Is your inner voice your own worst critic?

At Colorado Women’s Center, we dedicate ourselves to helping women build a foundation of self-acceptance. We understand that this journey can be challenging. To let go of the inner critic and cultivate a healthy sense of self, one must first unravel the narrative that often tells us we are not good enough or worthy.

Low self-esteem is often rooted in early life experiences. These experiences, whether within a family setting or school environment, can convey inaccurate messages that we are somehow insufficient. These messages shape our beliefs about ourselves and the world, leading to patterns of negative thinking and self-talk. When such patterns form the basis of our identity, every new experience is filtered through the lens of “I’m not good enough,” perpetuating a cycle of self-doubt and perceived failure.

Breaking free from these negative beliefs requires awareness. Understanding how these thoughts developed is the first step in transforming them. However, this process can be challenging. It’s difficult to view yourself through a lens different from the one with which you grew up. Yet, with awareness and the proper support, change is possible.

At Colorado Women’s Center, we focus on helping you change the tune of your inner voice from critical to compassionate. By paying attention to your self-talk, you gain insights that can lead to positive change. Many are unaware of how much their inner voice influences their moods and actions. The mind is incredibly powerful; when we harness this power positively, we can find the confidence and happiness that we all deserve.

If you are struggling with low self-esteem, know that it is possible to change your negative beliefs about yourself. With the right support, you can walk with grace and confidence, leaving behind the weight of self-doubt.

We offer therapy in our beautifully designed offices across Boulder, Denver, Fort Collins, Longmont, and Broomfield, and we provide online therapy to support women throughout Colorado. If you’re ready to begin your journey towards self-acceptance, we’re here to help.
